This week is getting kicked off on Wednesday for no reason other than the fact that Labor Day has me completely out of whack. Add to that the fact that I’m cleaning my house up to get listed for sale. Suffice to say, I’ve got a lot on my plate right now that isn’t food!
This week’s flavor comes courtesy of one of my favorite carbs – oats! I’ve always been a sucker for some good old fashioned oatmeal. Throw some brown sugar, walnuts, fruit, and drizzle some honey on top and I am in absolute heaven. This week I’m going to try and get a little more creative with my oatmeal recipes.
If you’ve never seen the appeal of oatmeal before, maybe it’s time for you to try it in a different manner. You can prepare oats sweet or savory. They are also very affordable and extremely filling. A bowl of oatmeal for breakfast is one of the few things that carries me over to lunch with no mid-morning cravings.
But – oats are not for breakfast alone! They make amazing snacks and desserts. One of my goals this week is to find a good oatmeal recipe for dinner; something other than the whole “breakfast for dinner” concept. Not that there’s anything wrong with a dinner omelet, but one of my goals in this blog is to come up with some new and interesting recipes that will help you find some inspiration.
So there you have it, folks. We’ll be living the Quaker life this week, and hopefully we will get some delicious food out of it.
